God is Watching You…but Not From a Distance

“I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness” (Jeremiah 31:3).

My little world was bright and white as the sun reflected off the snow that rare Alaska morning. I sensed a presence looking down at me; watching me as I played in the snow. I looked up to catch its essence and noticed the splendor of the sun and how it made everything glisten. My five year old brain didn’t yet own the words to express the beauty of nature or what my heart knew to be true.

Many years escaped as I drifted even further from the One I sensed that day; the One I’d wanted to know when I was a child.

Wanderlust, peer pressure and addiction kept me distracted until life’s difficulties and my own human frailties began to smother me.

But God didn’t forget how I’d turned an eye toward Him that day so long ago. We didn’t run into each other by chance, fate or luck as some would suggest. He was calling me and beckoning me ever since the day I was born… and He’s calling you too.

Maybe there was a part of me that didn’t really want to know back then, but it wasn’t too late, and it’s not too late for you either.

God is watching you. Not from a distance as the popular song goes, but intimately and up close; and with ‘an everlasting love’ He draws you to Him.

“Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine” (Isaiah 43:1).

Do you remember a time when you felt God’s presence?

Awesome! I believe God called me as a child, and He watched over me all my life, even thru 24 years of drug addiction. I too drifted farther and farther away from God, but by his Grace Ive found my way back, 7 years clen of drugs, 4 alcohol, and I now serve the Lord! Thank you for your unique perspective, and wonderful words!
