It can be hard to confess our sins to God. I find it easier to avoid certain topics and pray for obvious things like my family, job, friends, or those in need.
When it comes to my sins it’s tempting to gloss over them quickly or confess them silently lest I speak out loud and embarrass myself.
Its shame that can create a barrier between us and God and keep us from confessing. Shame hides in the dark and its antipathy is confession.
The problem is that we can’t hide from God! He already knows!
Hebrews 4:12 & 13 tell us that the word of God is “able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.” And that “there is no creature hidden from his site but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.”
The great news is that not only did Jesus make a way for our salvation, forgiveness and eternal life; He is also in the heavens with God interceding on our behalf!
“Seeing that we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the son of God, let us hold fast our confession” (Hebrews 4:14).
Don’t let shame isolate you from God. Confess and be blessed-He already knows about it anyway.
“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9).
