…for love is as strong as death, its jealousy unyielding as the grave. It burns like blazing fire, like a mighty flame. Rivers cannot sweep it away. If one were to give all the wealth of one’s house for love, it would be utterly scorned. (Song of Solomon 8:6-7)
Jesus Christ defeated death and through him all believers have eternal life. The message bible describes love as “invincible facing danger and death;” something that “stops at nothing,” and can’t be “bought,” “sold,” or “found in a marketplace.”
Though evil appears to prevail outwardly; love is still the most powerful force in the universe because it was won for you through Christ’s physical death on the cross. The empty tomb proves deaths defeat. Jesus and his transforming power is still evident in the lives of so many people some 2000 years later.
However, the same spirit that crucified Christ is still active today inside the souls of those who wield their power over others causing corruption, persecution, and physical death. Jesus knew this, which is why he told us in Matthew 10:28:
“Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell.”
Evil tried to destroy love on the cross but our heavenly father resurrected it; so those who are with Christ know that death is only the beginning of eternity with Him.
Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God. (Psalm 20:7)
