Dear Lord, teach me how to love my neighbors. Please remind me to be kind and gracious to them, instead of quickly rushing inside and closing the door so I can avoid speaking with them.
Dear Lord, teach me how to love my coworkers. Show me how to care enough about who they are that I stop pretending I’m too busy to make time for them.
Dear Lord, teach me how to love the homeless and broken. Remind me to consider them with care, instead of avoiding eye contact with them and hoping they won’t talk to me.
Dear Lord, teach me to love those that care for me, like my husband and my friends, so that someday I will be equipped to love those who don’t care for me.
Dear Lord, teach me how to love tenderness and vulnerability. Help me to not shrink away from these because of fear, and miss opportunities to experience them when they arise.
Dear Lord, teach me how to love myself. Show me how to see myself as the beauty that you created in the image of yourself.
Dear Lord, teach me how to accept love from others. Show me how to believe I am worth experiencing it, and to know that I am worth being cared about.
Dear Lord, teach me how to love you. Show me how to nurture our relationship, instead of only talking with you when I need something from you.
And Dear Lord please,
Help me to do more than hate my enemies – do more than just tolerate those I’m indifferent to, and do more than struggle to make time for those I care about.
